True Liposomal Delivery: An Interview with Master Nutritional Chemist and Inventor of Liposomal Delivery, Brian Rubach By Ned Mandingo In December of 2002, Global Nutraceuticals CEO Brian Vassallo announced a partnership with master chemist Brian Rubach, owner of Vitashots Inc. For years, bodybuilders and athletes have been achieving their goals with his invention without knowing he was the man behind the products. Not since Dan Duchaine has anyone had such an impact on the sports nutrition industry. A former bodybuilder while at the State University of New York in Brockport, Rubach pursued a dual major of health science and chemistry and put his knowledge to work researching any scientific information that might help in bodybuilding. After graduating, Rubach decided to escape the cold winters of New York, and moved to San Diego to pursue his career as bodybuilding's most innovative chemist. Why are you so interested in the nutritional supplement industry? Can't you see there are so many nutritional companies out there that are close to going belly-up? Why would you risk everything? Brian Rubach: The world of nutritional supplements is full of wise guys who think all they need to do is put a few ingredients in a capsule and sell it to make them rich. Well, I've grown tired of hearing people talk about how this doesn't work and that doesn't work. That's the main difference between our product and many other guys' products - our products work. That's why it's not a risk to me. I truly believe in our products - and our consumers feel the same way. Why are you coming to the forefront now? Brian Rubach: I have always liked being in the background. The thing that brings me the most satisfaction is seeing people get results from the products I have developed. But recently we have decided to end relationships with certain companies and I want consumers to know that these companies can no longer use the VitaShots Liposome Delivery System that works so well. I take pride in the work I do and want people to see that I am completely serious about our manufacturing process and how safe it is. The only way to do that is to go one step ahead of the competition and exceed any regulations of the FDA. So can anyone just run out and buy some equipment and do what you do. Brian Rubach: Well I suppose they could, but I sure wouldn't trust the products they're creating. I maintain that is what's giving the industry a bad name. Like I said before, so many people are just looking for a get-rich-quick scheme so they bottle up some pills in a garage or mix up something in a 55 gallon drum and think they are making progress. I have made liquid for years and I can say that just any old liquid is not a real liposome. By that, I mean a liposome is much more stable than a liquid and blended in a special way to produce those spheres. But isn't that what one of your biggest former clients thinks they can do? Brian Rubach: I really can't talk about that, other than to say that I now only make Liposomal Pro-Hormones for Global Nutraceuticals. However, that wasn't the case just a few months ago. So if guys buy ParaClone and Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone, it's guaranteed that they are getting true Liposomal Delivery Pro-Hormone products direct from your lab? Brian Rubach: That's correct. What if they buy other brands? Brian Rubach: Why would they? (laughs) We have made these products extremely cost effective for consumers. You have similar absorption rates without all the negatives of injections. Obviously the process of doing liposomals isn't very easy. A lot of companies have made claims that their products are truly liposomal. Why do they think their products are legit? Brian Rubach: They think they can just take lecithin and dissolve prohormones in them. They are wrong. Lecithin does have phospholipids, but not a whole lot. The prohormone lipsosome delivery system we developed is specially made for steroid molecules. We used the same phospholipids and the same rations that are in the tissues the prohormones bind to. This creates the natural affinity for the cells - which is needed for the targeting effects of the liposomes. Also lipsomal solutions are like a cake, put the wrong ingredients in the wrong order and you get a deflated mess. The spherical shape of the liposome will be squashed if not assembled properly. I have been researching this since 1995, by doing experiment after experiment 10 to 15 times per day. I have taken a definite scientific route to get where I am. It would be insane to think you could just parachute your way here without learning the base knowledge. What is the estimated absorbtion rate if someone took the ingredients you use in ParaClone and Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone and put them in regular powdered capsule form? Brian Rubach: Capsules and tablets are absorbed though the stomach at a rate of about 45%. True liposomes are absorbed through the lymphatic system at a reported rate of about 98%. Can any nutrient be delivered via liposomes? Brian Rubach: No, A liposome is between 100 and 400 nanometer in size. The microencapsulation takes place with smaller molecules. However, some proteins have been encapsulated. Also, the effective dosage is important. Active ingredients with effective dosage in micrograms are best between 1-500 mg. When the dosage gets above the 500 mg mark, the amount of the solution you have to take in decreases the effects. What can't be delivered liposomaly? Brian Rubach: I don't suggest things like creatine, glutamine and similar aminos. The amount you have to take in is too great. Let's say I wanted to use ParaClone and Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone, and I wanted to get maximum drug like effects. How would I take them? Brian Rubach: First, read all of the warnings on the bottle to make sure these products are right for you. There are some inherent risks in taking pro-hormone products, but the results are usually amazing. In general, you must be a healthy male and at least 21 years of age to consider using them. I would suggest taking both products, ParaClone and Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone, over a 6 to 8 week period - alternating each product every day - for best results. I will assume you work out in the afternoon or evening. Wake up, warm up your muscles a little bit by riding a bike, run on a treadmill, or even do pushups until failure. Then take a big serving of Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone (6cc) on an empty stomach. A dropper is included to measure out the dose correctly. The exercise gets blood circulating to transport the nutrients to your muscles most effectively. The Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone is the more anabolic one of the two products. It will help you recover and grow from the previous work out. Try to eat about 6 small meals throughout the day. Each one should contain a good amount of protein and carbohydrates. Stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking water regularly. Then, just before your work out, pound a big serving of ParaClone (6cc). With this one, you will quickly feel increased motivation. Go pound out a great workout. Alternatively, you can spread out the daily 6 cc serving in three 2 cc servings. Do not exceed 6 cc per day. Work out about 4 days per week and cut the dosage in half on the off days, but keep on doing the blood-circulating exercise just prior to the Discount Global Nutraceuticals Paraclone Prohormone dose in the morning on the off days as well. Be sure to go off the cycle for at least 4 to 6 weeks to keep your body from getting used to the hormones or else it might shut down its own production of them.
